I read that link referring to Cardinal Sin's statement on the miracle. Notice also your image of the photo of Our Lady with the people. This is a statue of Our Lady of Fatima. I am a member of the Blue Army, and there is no country in the world where this organization is bigger, or has as strong a devotion to Our Blessed Mother under this title than the Phillipines! So it is not surprising what Sr Lucia told Cardinal Sin, even though she lives in Portugal. I know that it was a Blue Army leader in the Phillipines that on one occasion lead the rosary at Camp Aquinaldo. I forget his name, but I know he is a restaurant owner. (This was in the May-June 1986 issue of SOUL, the BLue Army magazine) He said, "I expected to die under the tracks of a Marcos military vehicle, but what gave me the strength was thinking of all the Blue Army members in the world. I thought of the power of all their prayers." AMEN TO THAT!! God bless Andrew |
Subject: PHILLIPINE REVOLUTION Date: Thu, 07 Aug 1997 01:05:26 +1100 From: Andrew Rabel <rabel@deakin.edu.au> Organization: Deakin University
God bless you for your website! I am an Australian who always has been edified by the events of Feb 1986 in Manila. I am a devout Catholic, and I have always attributed the peaceful revolution to the intercession of Our Lady. >From Dec 8, 1984 to Dec 8, 1985 there was held in the Phillipines a Marian Year to honour the 2000th anniversary of her birth. This was the only country in the world to commemmorate this event, and I believe the revolution was Mary's gift to her people who so deeply love her. Cardinal Sin also maintains that at the height of the revolution Our Lady appeared over the EDSA Boulevard, and dissuaded the soldiers from firing on the crowd. Do you think this is true? Yours sincerely Andrew J Rabel |

I have also taken the liberty of using an image from your site, with the appropriate links. More power to you. Subject: People Power Date: Fri, 01 Nov 1996 17:20:55 -0800 From: Rombaoa, Cesar rombaoa_c@fullman.com Organization: Fullman Company I enjoyed reading every detail of your story. I was a among the people who showed-up at EDSA. My story might not be as detailed as your story but i can definitely tell you how proud I was just standing in the middle of Edsa between 2 camps. We spent like 2 days and one night. I was with my friends. Two were engaged the day marcos left the country. We spent so many hours praying the rosary. We have radios with us which helped us knew what was happening around. We didn't eat at all. My friends and i decided not to bring any provisons other than ourselves, couple of rosary and three portable radios. When I attended a Dale Carnegie Course 4 years ago here in Portland, Oregon, I stood up in a class of about 4O students. I talked about the People Power. My classmates and instructor attentively listened to my story. After the class that night, my classmates voted me as a persuasive speaker--I even got a Dale Carnegie Pen as an award. I have to sign-off now. I'll be sharing some of my stories next time. |

Subject: Revolution Date: Mon, 1 Jul 1996 23:42:46 -0400 From: Ricbars <Ricbars@aol.com> Yeah, I remember that revolution. I even think of it in my sleep. It
was such a glorious moment. The people, bonding as one, to overthrow a dictator
who has robbed the country of its beauty and its wealth. It was inspiring.
BUT, NOW WHAT? We have removed a cancer only to be replaced with a more
potent corrupt system. Everyone is trying to grab money and have forsaken
the beauty of my country. The poor are still poor. They die poor. They don't
even have nothing to be proud of anymore. Moviestars for politicians? What
the fuck is going on? Does these so called politicians know about issues
or they are just trying to look cute. WHAT IN THE WORLD IS IMELDA THIEVING
ASS MARCOS IS DOING IN POLITICS. A person that stole billions of dollors
of the countrys wealth. What about the loss of young, fresh, minds that
leave the country for jobs in the U.S. and other countries. What about the
so called entertainers in the island of Okinawa and mainland Japan, the
domestic helpers that labor almost to slavery just to earn a living to feed
their families and send their brothers and sisters to school? What about
the social reform in my beautiful country? Are my peole really free or they
are just waiting for their death while laboring to keep their heads above
water and make ends meet. WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON? . . . . . . . . SEMPER FIDELIS

Subject: Your Web Page Date: Wed, 08 May 1996 02:00:55 -0700 From: Ronnie T.M. <ronmir@skyinet.net> Organization: Storm Visualization & Imaging, Inc. I just checked out your web site. IT IS REALLY GREAT! I think the Philippine governmnet should reward you with something for being the most extensive (to date) in sharing the 1986 People Power Revolution. I thin on it's own it should stand out as as Web Site. However, I don't mean to disppapoint you but EDSA 1986 is not as intense anymore, because the typical Pinoy is more concenrned nowadays with surviving rather than patriotism or other "intangible" stuff. But I would like to applaud you for doing such a great job on this. In fact, I'm emailing my freinds and the Pinoy president regarding your work. I hope they acknowledge this very important part of history being on the Web. |

I'm sorry but I missed that event in our history. I was stationed in Hawaii at that time but I heard so many once-in-a-lifetime stories from friends and relatives who experienced the event. Being in Hawaii, though, gave us the opportunity to witness the arrival of Macoy and company. I collected a few editorial cartoons on the Marcoses but I have to search around where I kept them. I must have stashed them so good I don't have any clue where they are. Good luck on your project. Note from webmeister: Let's hope Alan finds these cartoons someday. |
